Let's Grow Together
in
In light of Malvern Town Council’s search for land for allotments and the success of other Transition garden-share schemes around the country we would like to let you know that Transition Malvern Hills Food Group is planning the launch of its own scheme called “Let’s Grow Together”.
The plan is to bring together anyone who is willing to share an area of their garden, with someone in their locality, who would dearly love to grow their own food but has no access to suitable land. The garden owner will receive an agreed share of the produce.
Initially we will invite willing garden owners to contact us so we can establish if there is any interest in such a scheme. Hopefully, we will then be able to invite interested growers to contact us. We suspect there will be no shortage of growers out there!
Even if you don’t have a garden to share perhaps you would be willing to share your valuable knowledge and experience to novice gardeners.
We are also asking for donations of any unwanted garden tools, in any condition, which we can repair/refurbish where necessary and then put to good use within the scheme.
For further information or details about the ‘Let’s Grow Together’ scheme please contact Wilma Harrington on 01684 891273 or use this website's Get in Touch form.
See article in Malvern Gazette, July 2009.
UPDATE, October 2009
We have several gardens available and are now looking for interested 'growers' to come forward.
If you would like to 'grow your own' but don't have a suitable plot or enough space then please contact us and we will put you in touch with a garden owner in your area.
We are also looking for experienced gardeners who would be willing to offer help and advice to novice growers.
