Energy Monitor Launch into Malvern Library
The Transition Malvern Hills Energy Group has been working with Worcestershire County Council and Malvern Library to provide a set of ten Efergy energy monitors for loan to local households.
The monitors will allow people to check their electricity use and help them save money. If the enhanced steps are followed, energy use and bills could be reduced even further.
John Raine, member of Transition Malvern Hills Energy Group, is shown here wheeling a load of these specially prepared monitors to deliver them to Malvern Library.
For more details of the Energy working group, contact John Raine using the Get in Touch page.
Please see Events section for info on any upcoming meeting.

warmer worcestershire
Interesting! My current house, which I know needs more loft insulation and has solid walls therefor no cavity insulation shows as 'Average' and the house I used to live in & in which I installed cavity wall and loft insulation shows red. How is that?

Warmer and cooler Worcestershire
Perhaps the current occupants of your old house had the heating up full and the windows open?? There's definitely some oddities and unexpected results which makes me want to know more about the technology and methods behind the survey.
Insulation
Are you aware of the Warmer Worcestershire project which has paid for the whole of the county to be aerially mapped using thermal imaging equipment. The results show which properties are losing most heat through their roof and will be used to target vulnerable and low income households through grant support. It will also signpost residents to other grants and possible solutions.
The results should be on the MHDC or County websites now or very soon.
If you need more details, contact Rose Newbury, Housing Manager at MHDC.
Warmer Worcestershire website
Thanks for the info. The web site info for this has just come our way in fact. See www.warmerworcestershire.com/.
The map of heat loss does have its quirks, such as my garage (which is uninsulated but unused) shows as green (good), and while the house is yellow (average good) I don't know if that is before or after a new boiler was installed (which would have reduced waste heat a lot). I did notice that none of the new build properties near me do better than average good, which is disappointing.
